musings from the pink chair

photoshop n00bs

Posted on: 24 August 2009

the ny times included this image in their “brief history of photo fakery” slideshow today:

“A freelance photographer for the Reuters news agency doctored this Aug. 5, 2006, photograph of smoke rising from burning buildings after an Israeli airstrike on the suburbs of Beirut. The manipulated image, at left, has more smoke added.”

i would just like to say — that is the most obvious use of the photoshop clone tool i have ever seen, and if reuters actually used it in any way…i’m really embarrassed for them right now.

you can see the whole slideshow and read the article here.
